    Agenda4ol Frequently asked Questions

When I load the program first time, it asks me owner name, what is owner name?
Agenda4ol supports multiple profiles. This means, you can keep track of all events for your entire family using Agenda4ol if you enter the events under different names, called profiles. While all facility is available for all profiles, exporting to Pocket PC calendar is restricted to one profiles only which Agenda4ol terms as "Owner". This is to ensure that your Pocket PC Calendar does not get populated with events for other profiles.
You can still enter event from another profile and enter it to your calendar using the "Also For" option as described below.

If the event applies to more than one profile, do I enter events separately on all profiles?
No. Agenda4ol event entry screen has a selection "Also For". Using this while entering an event, you can specify what other profiles the event is suitable for. However, if you are importing events from External file or from Contact database, you will need to import them separately.

If I enter an event for a profile and wants it to be a part of my calendar, what should I do?
When entering an event to a profile, just select your name in the "Also For" field. When you save the event, the option to enter it to Calendar database will automatically appear.

Does Agenda4ol support any date format?
Agenda4ol will support any date format that you set using the "Regional Settings" in your pocket PC. However for efficiency purpose, Agenda4ol does not check continuously if you changed the date format.
Therefore, after changing the format, you will have to go back to the main screen and refresh the event display again be selecting either a profile name, or event type from the pull down menu or both. The other option is to close Agenda4ol and open it again.

Why do I get "There is no application associated with this file…." Error while trying to load Agenda4ol?
Agenda4ol is a VB application and required Visual Basic components installed on your Pocket PC device. Our earlier assumption was that all Pocket PCs come equipped with the VB components. However some do not and if they do, by uninstalling other VB applications you sometimes inadvertently uninstall some VB components required to run Agenda4ol.
From Version 1.30 onwards, all Agenda4ol versions come packaged with the VB components you need so if you have an older version you will need to upgrade it.

Why do I get "Activex component can not create object error"?
Agenda4ol interfaces with your Calendar application using POOM activex component on your Pocket PC device. Some older versions of Pocket PC Devices do not come installed with the POOM component. Therefore, most Pocket PC manufacturers provide end user OS upgrades free from their website.
Please apply the end use upgrade to your device to fix this problem. Otherwise, you may also have problem with other PIM applications.

Why do I get "Please upgrade your ADOCE…" error message running Agenda4ol?
ADOCE is the database manager for Pocket PC device. Agenda4ol works with 3.0 and 3.1 version of ADOCE. If your device is more than 3 years old, it is quite likely that you don't have these versions. You will need to upgrade it from Microsoft site
However, our experience shows that this problem in most cases is taken care of by applying a hard reset to the device, as it could be a registry problem also. Most Pocket PC devices are never completely powered down hence uninstalling and using other applications could sometimes cause registry problems leading to this problem.

Why do I sometimes see "NA" in my Age field of Birthday and Year field of Anniversary?
When importing Birthdays and anniversaries from your Contacts, Agenda4ol automatically adjusts the Age and Year, as the entries in Contact are the birth date and anniversary date. Agenda4ol calculates the next birthday/anniversary and the age.
When directly entering birthdays and anniversaries using Agenda4ol, you are entering the birthday and anniversary rather than the birth date (actual date and year the person was born) and anniversary (Actual date and year the marriage happened).  Currently there is no facility in Agenda4ol you either enter this date or the age and year. So, what you enter is the next birthday and next anniversary. Therefore, Agenda4ol displays it NA. In a future release of Agenda4ol, we will have facility to enter the Age and Year.

How do I set alarm for an event?
All event entry screens have "Remind Me" option, which is enabled by default. So, if you enter an event and have not specifically unchecked this, Alarm will automatically be generated. When alarm is generated, it goes to the system Alarm and you will have the option to entire dismiss and snooze as you normally do.
